It's difficult for Australia to break new ground.

The top summits have already been conquered.

This is the squad that has claimed seven Cricket World Cups, plus another six T20 titles, and previously enjoyed over three years without defeat in 50-over cricket.

The secondary achievements, those for the achievement hunters, are all that remain for a squad that has won it all.

The fact it required up to Sunday's victory by three wickets over India for them to complete their first ODI chase over 300, reclaiming their record for the highest in the female 50-over format, is, in truth, a compliment to the bowlers that have sported the yellow jersey over five decades.

It's challenging for their batters to hold a record if not provided the opportunity.

In the end, the consequence of Australia giving up 330 runs was leader Alyssa Healy getting an opportunity to deliver her most recent brilliance.

Originally famous as the teenage relative of renowned former Aussie wicketkeeper Ian, she debuted in 2010 after her country didn't secure either of the T20 or ODI World Cups conducted earlier and has witnessed all through 15 championship-filled years since.

A T20 championship victory happened three months after her first appearance and seven world titles have followed from 10 efforts across formats.

The gritty keeper was also there in Derby in 2017 when a last-four loss by India momentarily interrupted the successful run.

That loss "pushed us to reconsider our benchmarks," Healy said this week.

At the subsequent ODI World Cup in New Zealand, Healy hit 170 against England in the final and was awarded tournament MVP. She guaranteed her country would not come up short.

If this recent magnificent innings surpassed that earlier display remains open for discussion.

Many contend the argument supporting championship match pressure. Others can counter with the difficulty that comes when pursuing an unprecedented total and an enthusiastic Indian fanbase of 20,000.

What's clear is this ton was far harder to see coming.

The Christchurch carnage in 2022 came as she led the batting statistics, but this knock followed six innings in India since the start of last month in which she had not exceeded 30 runs.

"If you've observed me in the nets, it's been a challenging time because it appeared I lacked timing at all," stated Healy.

"But once you take the field, your competitive instincts activate and you completely engage with the contest."

Healy's competitiveness has consistently been her great strength - and an irreplaceable characteristic in replacing iconic ex-skipper Meg Lanning.

She was tormented by India's emerging talent Kranti Gaud in recent ODI series, out to the young fast bowler in each encounter, but here that only provided Healy's motivation.

One run resulted off Gaud's first delivery and from there Healy was in motion.

"An opportunity to take the field and lock in a contest with her and merely enjoy the moment in that aspect, kind of motivated me," commented Healy.

She achieved fifty in 35 deliveries - her fastest at the global tournament - and her ton in 84 deliveries while she punished short deliveries, hitting 21 fours and three sixes.

When she was out Australia required another 66 at run per delivery - a manageable total now requiring a leisurely stroll.

"To chase 330 is unfamiliar ground so I'm happy we have the assurance to achieve that now," added Healy.

"Hopefully we don't have to repeat it but, should it happen, we believe we can succeed."

Those words will be the final thing competing nations at this tournament want to hear.

During the last week a sense they will win from any position has grown stronger - this victory following success over Pakistan by 107 run margin despite sitting at 76-7 at a certain moment.

Subsequently Australia meet Bangladesh before a meeting with longtime competitors England in Indore in 10 days, by which point a last-four spot may well be secure.

It was in the semi-finals they left the prior year's T20 World Cup in an unexpected loss by South Africa - a match Healy missed because of torn tissue in her foot as she captained her nation for the inaugural occasion at a major tournament.

Such is her determination, she later said she wished she had played despite the injury.

Yet even as she later admitted those fitness problems have pushed back consideration of ending her career, this championship is anticipated as her concluding event as leader in ODI cricket and she is still to achieve a world championship as leader.

Success in India would bring her to the top of her final mountain.
